Each year, our club awards five (5) - $1000 scholarships to support educational programs preparing students for vocational/technical careers attainable with an associate’s degree, certification or license.

These awards all called the ‘Joe Helbling Vocational Scholarships’, named in memory of Dr. Joseph P. Helbling, Jr. – a PHD in Occupational Education Administration, past Dean of Occupational Studies at MCC, and beloved Rotary ‘Dawnbreaker’ prior to his passing back in 2002 at the young age of 54.  These scholarships are funded by the efforts and dedication of our membership, guests and sponsors of our club’s annual ‘western’ auction heading into its 27th year held each March at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake, IL.
